A classic herringbone pattern adds beauty to any space. In this tutorial we are going to show you how to create one on your wall as a piece of art. Stikwood peel and stick wood planks can be used for accent walls, ceilings, hallways, islands, bars, you name it. We look at all Stikwood installations as artwork.
Tools You'll Need
- Level
- Chop Saw
- Pencil
- J Roller
- Tape Measure
Step 1
Measure for the desired height of your frame and mark with a pencil.
Step 2
Measure the width of your frame and mark with a pencil, making sure that your lines are level.
Step 3
Mark your cuts with a pencil on your flat trim to fit your desired frame size.
Step 4
Using a chop saw, set your angle to 45-degrees to make your cuts.
Step 5
Peel the adhesive backing from your flat trim and press the trim onto the wall. Be sure that each piece is lined up with your frame markings. Roll the trim with a J-Roller.
Step 6
Your frame is now done! Onto the fun part...
Step 7
Measure your frame to find the center point and mark the position of your first plank.
Step 8
Mark the wall at a 45 degree angle from the center point. Peel the adhesive backing from your plank and press it onto the wall.
Step 9
Roll the plank with a J-Roller to ensure proper adhesion and install the next piece, making sure that the edge of both pieces are flush. Repeat until you can no longer install complete planks.
Step 10
Mark and cut remaining planks to fill the pattern using either a chop saw or miter saw set to a 45 degree angle.
