Designer Spotlight: Michelle Lisac Interior Design

In our ongoing Designer Spotlight Series, we talk with interior designers and architects to see what inspires them, and get insights to how they approach creating beautiful spaces. In this Spotlight we talk with Vertical Interior Design and learn more about their business and experience.

Stikwood: How long have you been an interior designer?

Michelle: I started in the interior design industry in 2007. Opened my own interior design company, Michelle Lisac Interior Design, in 2014.

Stikwood: What has the design journey been like for you?

Michelle: I graduated with a degree in Business & Marketing but decided I wanted to do something more creative, so right after college I became a designer and worked at two different but equally wonderful high-end boutique interior design firms in the Bay Area before starting out on my own. Since then we have been fortunate enough to get to work with really great clients & contractors on a multitude of different projects including new ground up builds, large and small remodeling projects and fun furniture/decor projects.

Stikwood: There is something really authentic and fun about your work. How does Stikwood fit into your style?

Michelle: Stikwood is a great way to add texture and visual interest to walls, ceilings and even cabinetry. Definitely ups the cool factor to surfaces that would otherwise just be painted.

Stikwood: What would you say is your “signature style”?

Michelle: I would say our signature style is “California Cool.” A blend of modern & classic with a hint of fun.

Stikwood: What was your favorite project using Stikwood products? What made it so special?

Michelle: Hard to choose just one! But one of my favorite projects using Stikwood was the powder bath in our “Modern Rustic Rural Coastal Country Farmhouse” in Aptos. We paired the Reclaimed Weathered Wood White with Cole & Son’s “Woods” wallpaper and it was like they were made for each other!

Stikwood: What is your best piece of advice to offer someone who wants to redecorate a room on their own? Design with colors/elements/items that you love and don’t just follow the trends. If you really love something it will have staying power and bring you joy to be surrounded by it everyday. Also, measure everything twice to make sure it will fit!

Stikwood: Where can people go to find out more about your services?

Michelle: You can find more information on our website: michellelisacinteriordesign.com or see what we are currently up to on Instagram: @michellelisacinteriordesign
