Frequently Asked Questions

Are these suitable for high-end architectural projects?
Yes! Because of how we harvest, our wood is amazingly consistent. We are able to supply large quantities with the look you want.
Do you offer planks longer than 12 feet?
Yes. Call us and we can help with lengths up to 20 feet. Our supply is very consistent but longer planks are less common so you must request these.
Are Elements planks real reclaimed wood?
Yes. Each Elements plank has spent at least seven years weathering in the Mountain West.
What is the current lead time for Elements products?
All Elements products typically ship in 4–6 weeks.
Can I order Elements samples?
Yes, you can order a sample from any product page, or click on the get samples link in the main menu.
What technical documents are available for specifications and code review?
Spec sheets, warranty and other closeout sheets are located in the documents section of each product page on this site.
How are Elements reclaimed wood planks installed?
Our planks are typically installed with mechanical fasteners (nails or screws).
Can Elements receive Weather Seal and Class A fire treatment?
Yes. Elements planks can receive both Weather Seal and Class A fire treatment.
When should I choose Weather Seal for my planks?
Choose Weather Seal to help protect exterior wood from fading, moisture damage, and UV exposure.
Which Elements profiles are available for interior and exterior applications?
Use Nominal 1x6, S3S, Shiplap, or Tongue & Groove for exterior applications; Interior Finish Plank is intended for interior walls and ceilings.
Can Elements reclaimed wood be used outdoors?
Yes. Select an exterior-rated profile and confirm Weather Seal, installation, and local code requirements for your project.
Why does made in the USA matter for wall planks?
American manufacturing keeps Stikwood close to the people, materials, and hands-on details that shape the finished product.
Are shiplap and tongue-and-groove different?
Yes. Traditional shiplap has overlapping rabbeted edges, while tongue-and-groove planks have interlocking shapes on each edge.
Which is better: shiplap or tongue-and-groove?
Both have advantages. Shiplap offers a more pronounced shadow line and a classic wall-cladding look, while tongue-and-groove creates a cleaner, tighter finish with added texture.
What gives reclaimed wood its distinct appearance?
Reclaimed wood is aged lumber that has undergone natural weathering processes over time, resulting in a distinct appearance with rich patina colors and deep grain patterns.
