Tools you will need:

Step 1: Prepare For Install Day

Let Slatwood Relax in its New Home

Take Slatwood out of the box and remove plastic wrap. Stack them in their new room and leave them to acclimate for 2-5 days prior to install day. Anytime you bring wood into a space you want to let it acclimate to it’s new home.

Step 2:Measure, Mark & Cut Panels to Length

Stikwood

Measure Height of Wall

Measure the distance from the top of your baseboards to the ceiling to determine how long your panels need to be.

Stikwood

Cut Panel to Length

With the felt side up, mark the length of the panel, and cut. Cutting with the felt side up reduces the chance of getting ‘tearout’ on the face of the slats.

Step 3:Place & Screw (or Glue)

Stikwood

Place First Panel

Place the panel so the felt edge is flush to the edge/corner of the wall, and ensure it is straight using your level.

Stikwood

Screw Panel to Wall

Place a screw between the slats through the felt and into the wall. Take it slow and tighten just enough so the screw face is even with the felt. Do not over tighten as the drywall may strip.

You can also use construction adhesive to install your panels.

Check Level and Finish Screwing

Take your time and make sure the first panel is installed exactly as you want it. This will make the rest of the installation easier.

Continue Placing Panels & Checking level

With the first panel installed and level, cut to length and place the next few panels, periodically checking level and screwing in place, making sure there is no visible gap between panels.

Place All but Last Panel

Continue placing panels until you reach the last panel.

Stikwood

Rip Final Panel to Width

Measure the final panel width and cut last panel to height and width.

PRO TIP: With a good straight edge and utility knife you can make the rip cut on the panels as long as it is in between slats through the felt only.

Place and Screw Final Panel

Place the final panel and screw.
