How Much Stikwood Do I Need?

To figure out how much Stikwood to order for your space follow the steps below. NOTE: If you want help, please contact us, we are happy to help with the calculations and will make sure you have everything you need for a successful install day.

1. Determine the area of your wall in square feet.

Measure the height and width of your wall in inches and multiply them together. This gives you the area of your wall in square inches. Divide this result by 144 to get square feet. Don't worry about windows or doors at this step.

Example: 85 wide x 120 tall = 10,200 / 144 = 71 square feet (rounded up).

2. subtract any 'cutouts' like windows and doors.

Follow the same steps to find the area on a window or door (we call them cutouts because they are spots in a wall where you don't want stikwood so they need to be cutout of the total area). Once you have the cutout area, just simply subtract it from the total wall area from step 1.

3. Add in 5% extra.

You want to add a little extra to allow for board choice options and in case you make a cutting error. We recommend adding in 5% for waste. If you are doing a diagonal pattern like herringbone or chevron, you may want to include 10% as the angle will produce more waste at each cut.
