Frequently Asked Questions

What is Slatwood?
Slatwood is Stikwood’s acoustic wood slat panel line, made with real wood slats bonded to black acoustic felt for walls and ceilings.
Does Slatwood help reduce noise?
Yes. Slatwood helps reduce echo and soften harsh room noise, but it is not a full soundproofing system that blocks sound between rooms.
What size are Slatwood panels?
Full-height Slatwood panels are 94.5 inches tall by 12 inches wide. One box includes two panels and covers 15.75 square feet.
Is 94.5 inches the tallest Slatwood panel size?
Yes. 94.5 inches is currently the tallest Slatwood panel size. For taller walls, for best results, before installing, plan your layout to stagger the seams.
How do I install Slatwood?
Slatwood can be installed with construction adhesive or screws/mechanical fasteners. Follow the installation guide for your surface and layout.
Is Slatwood peel-and-stick?
No. Slatwood is not peel-and-stick. It installs with construction adhesive or mechanical fasteners, depending on the surface and project.
Can Slatwood be installed on ceilings?
Yes. Slatwood can be used on walls or ceilings when installed with the right adhesive or mechanical fastening method for the surface.
What is the difference between Slatwood Melody and Slatwood Chorus?
Melody has seven narrower slats per 12-inch panel. Chorus has six wider slats per 12-inch panel for a bolder, more wood-forward look.
Can I order Slatwood samples?
Yes. Order Slatwood samples to compare color, texture, slat spacing, felt, and construction before choosing full panels.
Why does it matter that your slats are bonded, not stapled?
Bonded slats make cutting safer and cleaner. With stapled panels, a cut can hit a staple or leave a section of slat no longer attached to the felt backing. Overtime the staples may loosen and a slat may come off as well.
